Ella: Loves to play Lax, do art, run, acting, and do anything to help others in need or with special needs
Why she loves to do this: "I just love to help people" Ella says. "I think it is really important to find the cure for autisum. thats why it is so important to raise money for it, because anything helps. It is also just such a great feeling to know that you are helping so many people and so many familys". Ella also believes that this is just the beginning. "I really do think this", she says. "I hope that we keep getting bigger and bigger, and someday, we find the cure. So thanks to everyone that has helped make this possible by donating. because like I said before, anything helps".
Liz: Loves to Dance, Sing, acting ,hang out with her friends, and help people in need any way she can.
Why she loves to do this: " CJ is my brother and I want to help him through this" Liz says. "This is so important to me. I have always wanted to help with autism, and finally, my dream came true. And I couldn't have done it without the help of my friends, family, and everyone who has donated or is a volenteer, you guys are the best!"Liz smiles,"being the president is cool because it makes me feel like I am doing something inportant. What Causes Autism?
Not long ago, the answer to this question would have been “we have no idea.” Research is now delivering the answers. First and foremost, we now know that there is no one cause of autism just as there is no one type of autism. Over the last five years, scientists have identified a number of rare gene changes, or mutations, associated with autism. A small number of these are sufficient to cause autism by themselves. Most cases of autism, however, appear to be caused by a combination of autism risk genes and environmental factors influencing early brain development.
In the presence of a genetic predisposition to autism, a number of nongenetic, or “environmental,” stresses appear to further increase a child’s risk. The clearest evidence of these autism risk factors involves events before and during birth. They include advanced parental age at time of conception (both mom and dad), maternal illness during pregnancy and certain difficulties during birth, particularly those involving periods of oxygen deprivation to the baby’s brain. It is important to keep in mind that these factors, by themselves, do not cause autism. Rather, in combination with genetic risk factors, they appear to modestly increase risk.
A small but growing body of research suggests that autism risk is less among children whose mothers took prenatal vitamins (containing folic acid) in the months before and after conception.
Increasingly, researchers are looking at the role of the immune system in autism. Colors 4 the cure's goal is to raise money to help autism reasearch, and someday, find the cure.
So please, everyone, have a heart and donate to raise money for Autism research, because we will fight to find the cure. It dosen't have to be much, but anything helps!
